Highway maintenance improvement works to facilitate the installation of a new 79.2 metre open bore king post wall by Aarsleff GE Ltd, at the rear of residential properties on the A5199 Welford Road, Northampton. Works undertaken for Kier Transportation under the West Northamptonshire Highways Term Maintenance Contract.

Works included site set up including perimeter fencing, excavation of bored pile location pockets, excavation between king posts for installation of PCC panels and back of wall drainage with shingle bed and surround, backfill to rear of PCC panels, installation of guardrail fencing behind PCC panels at high level and reconstruction of footpath and kerbs to carriageway. Vacuum excavation was used to mitigate the risk of damaging underground services.

Vehicular and Pedestrian Traffic Management completed by others. The highway works were carried out under a 24 hour road closure with associated signed diversion routes to create a safe working area within the carriageway.
