JURASSIC FOOTPATH, MIDDLETON

Client / Consultant: Kier Transportation
Start Date: Feb 2025
Duration: 2 Weeks
Location: Jurassic Footpath, Middleton, Northamptonshire
Value: £26,600.34
Project Details:

Drainage improvement works to mitigate flooding to the Jurassic footpath.

Phase 1 – Works included breaking out the existing gully and channel drains, replacing with 160mm shingle surround and installation of perforated land drainage pipe to reduce the risk of flooding from nearby fields.

Phase 2 – Works included excavation of existing surfacing and laying of 70m2 of KBI Flexipave surfacing to a steep gradient section of the footpath to further reduce the risk of flooding and improve aesthetics.

Flexipave is a highly porous hand laid cold lay surfacing material, comprised of a 50/50 mixture of recycled rubber and natural stone aggregate, mixed with a binding agent. NC & JC operatives are now formally certified by KBI to install Flexipave.

Traffic and pedestrian management were undertaken by NC & JC using 2-way lights, a footpath closure and diversion. Works were completed for Kier Transportation under the North Northamptonshire Highways Term Maintenance Contract.
